Biography
I am an interdisciplinary artist who has lived and worked in Seattle since 1992.
My work often originates from a personal curiosity (and sometimes autodidactic approach), presenting invitations to explore different perceptions, memories of place, and spaces of imagination.
These explorations have included the use of sound as a material in artwork, and the distribution of sound as a medium for listening.
Since 2005 my work has been inspired by my experiences during multiple travels throughout Asia and elsewhere.
During these journeys, I have recorded location, daily life, and ceremony via audio recording, video, and drawings.
These gatherings constitute an archive from which I use as reference/material/inspiration for:
audio releases, radio broadcasts, visual exhibits, installations, and performance.
My visual and audio works have been exhibited and performed in museums, festivals and venues across
Southeast Asia, Europe, the US, including:
• AUDIOSPHERE: Social Experimental Audio, Pre- and Post-Internet - Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofia - Madrid Spain 2020,
• 15 Ans De Sublime Frequencies Festival - Paris 2018,
• ArtJog8 - Yogyakarta Indonesia 2015.
I have attended residencies in USA (Florida, Washington) and Indonesia (Java).
Awards include Artist Trust/Washington State Arts Commission Fellowship (2006).
My work is in the collections of the Seattle and Tacoma Art Museums, and others.
